Let's Tear it Down

I'm thinking it's time we got rid of that silly antiquated notion of separation of church and state. E Pluribus Unum? What is that, a disease-causing bacterium like E. (Enterobacteriaceae) coli but noodlier, like udon noodles? Who speaks Latin, anyway? It's a dead language and the idea of separation of church and state is a dead notion, may it R.I.P. (that's "Rest in Peace," not "Requiescat in Pace," m'kay? NO MORE DEAD LANGUAGES! No more tired jokes about more cowbell!)

Where was I?

Oh - we can totally amend it out of the Constitution. Plus, the Constitution only says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." It was Thomas Jefferson who coined the phrase "wall of separation between church and state" and what did he know?

If we want unity, let's unify as a country. No more separation. Just the Government and the Right-Wing Fundamentalist Christians, all of us unified as One.

I for one am HEARTENED that these people are working so hard, doing GOD's work, people! Working to unify us all, to tear down the artificial, restricting separation between church and state. And how aggressively, diligently and strategically they are targeting our youth and government! Kudos, American "Taliban" (still don't get that. . .but thanks to Don anyway for sending me the link.)

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope and pray that Alito gets confirmed by the Senate early next month. All three branches of our federal government will then finally be totally on board with GOD's agenda and the Conservative Way! Doesn't that thought Fill your Being with Joy? : ) Supreme Court appointments are lifetime appointments! It is so hard to comprehend the Awesomeness of that concept!

The Supreme Court will FINALLY be able to totally invalidate the "separation" of church and state with a good interpretation of the Establishment Clause the first case it gets, once and for all!

Even though one of my Senators here in California has written me back to say she won't confirm Alito, something about individual rights, civil liberties history, yada yada, surely other Senators will See the Light?

You HAD to go and quote Pat Robertson, didn't you!?!?!?!?
I cringe EVERY TIME he opens his mouth. How can ONE PERSON, who supposedly believes in GOD, spew such garbage from his mouth. I think God himself is shaking his head up there. What an example of Jesus' love HE is.
I do believe that, as Christians, we have a duty to live a life pleasing to God. I'm not sure how that translates to politics, or if it should, but I also believe that pushing the Christian agenda (whateve that is) onto everyone is not what Jesus intended when he said "feed my sheep". People come to America to get away from persecution. Heck, that is the reason America was founded. It needs to be truly free and equal to all. That also includes Christians. It seems with all the agendas going around, some feel that Christianity needs to be obliterated. If we (the rest of us)can be tolerant of others, then why can't they also be tolerant of us?

(not really ; ) BTW If you have looked at my site at all, you will know I am an (embarrassingly) unabashed supporter of Jesus and his teachings. I consider myself a "Christian." But I'm pretty sure the folks I pointed to with this post and others who mix hatred, religion, intolerance, and bigotry, and strive to FORCE their hating beliefs into our diversified, pluralistic democratic governmental system aren't "Christian," at least according to my definition. Anyone saying "let a wave of hatred wash over you" has strayed a wee bit from the flock, IMHO. . .

Let's keep religion, all religion, out of government, and let each person practice and worship (or not) according to his or her beliefs. No need to obliterate any belief. Deal? Deal.
