A Smattering of Scattered Thoughts

My life is full; for that I should be grateful. Instead, I am feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. And my thoughts are a bit scattered, so this post will be, too.

I am done with my daddy issues for now. Once every 20 years should suffice.

I am driving to the coast tomorrow for a meeting (5+ hours each way) I really need local clients.

I am going to Ashland, Oregon this weekend to connect with an old friend from high school (from Kenya) and also to sit with spiritual teacher Gangaji for a bit on Sunday up there. Because she's all enlightened and stuff.

My body has transformed in the past 6 weeks (T, tell them!); it is crazy how dramatic the change has been. I will post pictures next week after I meet with my doctor on Monday. Cutting out wheat/gluten, dairy and sugar worked wonders for my body, mind and mood. I am going to write up the "program" I developed if people are interested. (And the thing about sugar and simple carbs is you can't really eat them in moderation, at least at first, because you will continue to crave them until you quit. The cravings go away after a few painful weeks.)

We converted a TINY unused bathroom into a very nice, freshly painted (orange) pantry. So the kitchen remodel is making progress.

I met a potential friend at the coast who lives in my town! She is in the same field and seems very cool. We will see.

We are going back to the coast the week of the 17th to meet up with some more friends. Then off to Nevada I hope the following weekend for a bike and camping trip with Neena and Don.

And I have so much work to catch up on; an appellate brief due very soon and I have to get my billings out.

It is hard to write coherent, meaningful posts when one's mind is scattered and one's schedule is so full. But I like to reach out here, both to let others know what I'm up to and why I am not posting, as well as to keep a journal of events for myself.

And also I enjoy writing these posts to muck and clog up Google searches for the poor lost souls trying to find enlightenment, write an appellate brief, paint their pantries or learn about wheat and gluten allergies. You know, it's the little pleasures in life for which we must be grateful.

It's okay to feel overwhelmed instead of greatful.
Sometimes, feeling overwhelmed means, well, that you're overwhelmed, and need to take a step back and look at how many things you are trying to do at once.

Had a dream with you in it last night. You were sending me Op-Ed pieces to read on dot matrix printer paper and you had an Asian last name.

Any thoughts on this? :)

OK, pass on the diet. . .

We are SO there on that weekend (also we're bringing Eric and Ruth) :-). I'd love to see the diet....very interested, and glad it's working so well for you.

You're good to 'check in', better than me. :-)

Man, stupid google. I got here searching for gluten allergies.

Briefs are fun, I used to have to make all the copies when I was a runner for a firm.

Billings aren't too bad, I used to do all that as a bookkeeper for another firm.

Man, I hate law firms now.

Dudes, Jayne's not kidding. Her posterior is evaporating at a startling rate. (I know this because I measure very carefully every day.) I don't know what in the hell she's holding her pants up with anymore. I plan on starting a Coalition to Save What's Left of Jayne's Ass. Act now! or soon there wont be any left for... well, for me.

It is nice to Happy Spunky Jayne back again. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the Cute Little Blue Shorts from Hawaii back into the rotation.

:)

Thinking of you. Hope you're enjoying sunshine.

Things will smooth out soon. Just keep that in mind. I thought my mind was going to explode recently, but things are smoothing out. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, be sure of that much. I don't think I could truly give up sugar. I really don't. I think I'd die.

Antonio: Thank you for your comment. It actually helped me slow down. I arranged to call in my meeting and avoid 11 hours of driving (for what turned out to be a 1 hour meeting!)

MU: Hm, it must mean I pester you with outmoded ideas but you tolerate me because I'm your soul sister ; )

Popeye: Not a diet! A lifestyle change : ) I will, I will.

Neena: Eric and Ruthie! Yay, that will be fun (and I can burn some pics on CDs to give them) let's plan it one of these days ; ) Hope all is well in Cedar. I guess if you checked in, I'd know hahahaha

Todd: My law "firm" is basically just me. I hate law firms too. Hope all is well with the move!

Pilot: You are too funny. Yes, I can fit into my little blue board shorts again, but my ass is still very much here.

Shephard: The weather has been gorgeous. I really want to make it down to LA before Fall!

Wendy: I am so glad to hear of your smoothing out . . . I thought I would die giving up sugar, but I really feel much better, promise. But to each her own : )

Ashland, Oregon, and Gangaji? You're in my town, Jayne. Hope enough of her enlightenment rubbed off for you.

Eeck! Well that goodness you'll be able to take a deep breath in Oregon (or did you already...my dates are all messed up!). Can't wait to see your pictures! :)

Kyle: Thanks for commenting! Am loving the Rogue Writers blog (and your home town is one of my new favorites!!) Enlightenment, hm, not sure, but some peace, yes.

V: Hi! Yes, I am resting, and why aren't you keeping better track of my schedule ; ) Ashland was lovely and it was so great to see my old friend.
